Making My Own Website in One Day

[ad_1]

Making my own website at first appeared an impossible thing to do, but with these steps, it turned out to be easy and simple. When you have created your first website, it feels like such a great achievement to have it up and running on the web. It just needs to be broken down into a step by step process and with these steps you can do it too.

Web editor

A web editor is where you design your web pages ready to be published on the web. OK so I use a free software that you can download called Kompozer . Go to Google and type in "kompozer". Here you will find the download page. This takes around a couple of minutes to download. You can also find tutorials online to help you use this software.

FTP client

An FTP client basically moves files from one computer to another ie your pages that you created with kompozer to your hosting account. I use an FTP client called Filezilla , which is also free and downloadable on the internet. Now an FTP client sees confusing and a little scary at first, but trust me there's nothing to worry about. There is a great eBook below that I used to give me step by step instruction and basically holds your hand through the process.

Registrar

Now in this step of making my own website, I had to find a registrar. This step is to set up your domain name (website name) I personally recommend Go Daddy . There are many out there and by all means check them out, but I just find this site very user-friendly. You can buy domain names for very cheap, like 10 dollars a year. Now it's pretty self-explanatory on the Go Daddy site, but again if you want you can check out the eBook below. It will take you step by step in detail how to create your first website.

Hosting account

A hosting account is a space on the web where you put your website. Again there are many hosting company's, but I personally use Hostgator . It has great support and has plans that start around 4 dollars a month. Go Daddy also host, just keep that in mind. Other hosting companies that you might want to consider, Justhost.com, Blue Host, Host Monster etc.

Summary

Doing these steps will go along way in starting off your Internet business. Obviously the above guide is not exhaustive. It is a general guide of some of the essential steps in getting started with your site. If you want more information, you should read the other articles on EzineArticles.com, on how to put these important steps together. The above guide should help in the process of putting your website on the Internet.
