There are numerous free online marketing strategies that can be employed by our home business, network marketing, and MLM owners. One notable question that might typically come up is how to make money online with Facebook marketing for free. In this article we’ll discuss some very simple marketing methods of Facebook marketing that I personally enjoy using that provide me with results. But first, let me paint a big picture for you so you can see that you can make money online.
Facebook’s press info and statistics for 2012 include the following:
- 845 Million Monthly active users.
- Over 100 Billion connections.
- Over 50.71% of US Population (174,586,680) is on Facebook in North America alone.
- 2.7 Billion ‘Likes’ every day.
- 37 Million pages with 10 or more Likes.
- 425 Million Mobile Users.
- 57% Female and 43% Male users by gender.
- The average person spends 20 minutes online using or surfing Facebook.
As you can see by not using Facebook marketing you are definitely missing out on a huge market for growing your primary home business. We’re all here because we want to be making money online right?! I mean come on, it’s 2012 let’s leverage the Internet and this Facebook beast.
Well, we know that Facebook has a pay per click (PPC) program but that can quickly become expensive and with our home budgets and with some of us just starting out this is likely not an option right now. We want to make money online now and we’ll worry about paying for advertisement later right? Let’s dive in and discuss a few techniques I that I use.
If you haven’t created a Facebook fan page for your primary business, get it done.
A Facebook fan page is for all tense and purposes a mini-blog on Facebook that serves as a “face” of you and your home business. This is different from your normal Facebook profile as it represents you as a person while your fan page represents your business or organization.
Fan pages are also designed to attract fans who might ‘Like’ the content you provide through updates, photos, and other personal branding or promotional material. This includes your blog articles and events that may be syndicated from your main blog website.
Fan pages are also great places to engage with your customers. Some companies carry on discussions with customers via their fan pages and embrace the transparency it provides. Facebook marketing really shines in this regard because it’s done with your customers in mind as they have an easy way to offer true and open feedback. Simply having this platform as an area to build relationships, get to know your visitors and potential prospects is incredible.
A fan page is easy to set up and free. I mean if I was able to do it, you should be able to handle it. It can be a great way to expand your brand presence and to make money online.
Once you have your Facebook fan page set up you’ll want to drive traffic to it. You will notice a search function above that acts very similar as a regular Google search tool within Facebook. When you know who your target market is that would be a great place to start.
Once you REALLY know who your target market is, you’ll want to engage them. Here’s an example. My target market is struggling network marketers. These are the types of people I reach out to so that I can provide marketing assistance, development, and strategies. However, a target market of struggling network marketers may still be a bit broad so I might laser focus my target market further to work from home moms.
Type your target market search into the search field at the top of your Facebook page and once the results are in you will see a list of items on the left. In this list select ‘people’. Select one person at a time, do you notice that they are involved in network marketing? That person is a prime target for your marketing efforts so send them a message. A simple message such as ‘Hello, Facebook recommended us as ‘friends’ and I noticed you were involved with a home business. Would you have time this week to connect? Don’t worry I’m not trying to sell you anything. I would like to ask you a few questions if that would be OK. Thanks, and signed by you. P.S. Is that your dog in your profile photo? I have a Great Dane also named Henry’.
Don’t say ‘hi here’s my link!’ A non sales pitch type message with a simple hello and permission to connect and followed with a personal touch can go a long way to open the door for building a relationship with another person. A follow up response once they message you back may simply be more questions being asked on how they market their business and how it’s going for them. Who knows, you may even learn something.
As your relationship builds and you’ve established yourself as being interested in what they do, how they do it, and their success. You may reach a point where you uncover a need. Once that time comes and the need is identified, that is when you might discuss your offer as the solution. It really doesn’t matter at that point as since you’ve taken time building a relationship you become more comfortable and so do they because of the way you approached them to begin with.
Avoid coming out of the gate with your guns blazing and yelling ‘Buy my products! Join my opportunity!’ Also avoid visiting random groups or pages and posting a ‘Earn Millions in 2 days, all from the comfort of your couch, no experience necessary, click this link’ type posts. You’ll quickly lose credibility with those that you’re trying to connect with and this will reduce your Facebook marketing efforts. It’s even worse when you end up being marked as spamming by other Facebook users and that could bring your marketing efforts on Facebook to a halt for days at a time. It’s hard to make money online when your marketing platform is inaccessible.
